The study presents information based on the reconstruction of a fragment of the library of the first evangelical town school in Bratislava (1606–1672), which was confiscated by the Jesuit Order, as part of the provenance research conducted in 2006–2013. It describes the extant book collections and life stories of two German evangelical pastors – exiles who worked, among other lands, also in Znojmo, namely Dr. Jeremias Homberger from Fritzlar and Johannes Stumpf from Alsfeld. The paper explains German–Austrian–Moravian– Slovak ownership relations in the mirror of manuscript ownership records in library collections as well as the relations between German protestant pastors and family members of the lords councillors in Znojmo (education, weddings, book donations, funeral sermons, occasional poetry at family events). Prominent authors, illustrators, bookbinders and other figures involved.
