Summary and assessment of data on bat fauna of eastern Bohemia (Central Europe) are given in the paper, including all available older findings from the period 1956–1992 and especially the larger material obtained by survey carried out in the years 1993–2004. The study area is about 9140 km2. Altogether, total 21 bat species have been recorded in the region (87.5% of species of bat fauna of the Czech Republic). Plecotus auritus, Myotis myotis and Myotis daubentonii are the most widespread species (found in more than 70% of 11.2×12 km grid squares, used for mapping of fauna in the Czech Republic); Rhinolophus hipposideros, Plecotus austriacus, Eptesicus serotinus, Barbastella barbastellus, Myotis mystacinus and Nyctalus noctula are less often recorded but still probably common species (48–65% of the squares); Pipistrellus pipistrellus, Myotis emarginatus, Myotis nattereri, Eptesicus nilssonii and Myotis brandtii are less common species (25–40% of the squares); Vespertilio murinus, Myotis bechsteinii, Pipistrellus nathusii, Pipistrellus pygmaeus, Nyctalus leisleri, Myotis blythii and Myotis dasycneme are rare species (up to 25% of the squares). Relative abundance of the findings was compared with results from other parts of the country.
