During the last ten years, two hoards containing grossi were discovered in the Úpice region (Trutnov distr.). The first one was found on the motocross track in the Radeč Village in 2011. It is represented by 437 coins and 3 coin fragments. All coins are classified as Prague grossi struck under Charles IV (1346–1378) – one piece, and under Wenceslas IV (1378–1419) – the remaining pieces. The second hoard was found in the cadastral territory of Kyje near Hajnice in 2018 (139 coins and 2 coin fragments). The coins are represented – with exception for one Meissen grossus – by the Prague grossi produced under Charles IV and Wenceslas IV. The hoards are comparable by their content, and they could be buried in the turbulent times at the end of the rule of Wenceslas IV and during the Hussite Wars. The direct reason could be possibly represented by repeated war clashes in north-east Bohemia in 1421, which affected severely the Úpice region.
