The paper discusses Dialogue.cz-sk, a project through which contemporary art jewellery “was included in” the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague during the period from January 30th to November 2nd, 2014. The text’s introductory section focuses on two other, similarly conceived “interventions” that had an effect on the Permanent Collection in 2011–2013: the projects “In Search of Glass” and “All the Best!”, both devoted to contemporary art glass. Dialogue.cz-sk was initiated at a time when contemporary art jewellery was being presented in the Museum’s main showroom through the exhibition entitled Liquid Time jewellery.sk>cz (that ran from January 30th to March 30th, 2014) which examined the artistic pursuits of the Metalwork and Jewellery Department of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. The interrelation of Czech and Slovak art that came to the fore during the exhibition stimulated the realisation of the Dialogue.cz-sk project. The jewellery objects that were incorporated amongst the Permanent Collection’s mainstay items which are chiefly devoted to various historical periods, did not only strike up a discussion with one another, however. The communication was conducted as if across centuries, opening-up new possible means of approaching such issues as human creativity, knowledge and faith. The paper describes in detail the individual thematic areas that were influenced by the artworks that were included.
