The article presents an analysis of “hate speech” in Czech communication practice. The introduction focuses on theoretical (methodological ) sources and the basic definition of “hate speech”. A basic overview of follow–up legal context follows (the right to freedom of speech vs. the right not to be discriminated) together with a list Czech legal norms concerning the distribution of discriminating speeches and hate speeches. Furthermore, the study presents basic characteristics and classifications of contemporary Czech hate speeches and their distribution settings – as compiled for instance by the Czech Helsinki Committe. The practical part of the present study concentrates on a typical Czech phenomenon – contemporary anticommunism. Pursuant to previous analyses, the study summarizes particular facts about anticommunism becoming a hate speech aimed at a political minority. It also brings forward the most explicit examples and mentions the policical debate on the “Fight Communism with Your T–shirt” campaign, the motto “Let's Strengthen Peace by Killing Communists!” and the attact on the communist Member of Parliament Jiří Dolejš.
