The report presented summarises the basic information concerning the history of the National Museum’s Field Research Station. It was founded in 1952 and it remains in use to this day. Initially the station was used for researching moors, while during the last 50 years it has been used mainly for zoological research. Its first facility manager was Dr. I. Klášterský (of the Botanical Department of the Museum of Natural History), while for the last 40 years it has been managed by the Zoology Department. Generations of naturalists have obtained very important samples (many samples of amphibians, lichens and fungi, for example), which continue to be objects of ongoing research. The results obtained have been a topic of almost 50 publications. This research was conducted not only by our local scientists but also by foreign ones. The reconstructed station is now also used for vacations.
