The Lowland Nyala was kept in the Prague Zoo in the years 1967–2005. In total, 164 young were born there. Sixty individuals were exported to different zoos. Births were recorded all year round with a maximum at the beginning of February, and later in May–June. The ratio of females versus males was 52: 48. Almost 44% of juveniles did not live longer than half a year. Sexual maturity in young males was reached at the earliest at the age of 21.5 months, in young females after the age of 1 year. The gestation period was 230–248 days. The most fertile females gave birth to twelve juveniles. The oldest breeding hind delivered at the age of 13 years and 10 months. The oldest individual (female) was culled at the age of 15 years, 1 month and 16 days. Altogether 28 skulls of the Lowland Nyala were deposited in the collection of the National Museum, Prague.
