The first record of Apodemus agrarius in the Hron river basin (Havraník valley near Zlatno, Brezno dist., Central Slovakia) is given. The finding represents clear evidence of expansion of the species into new area (the upper Hron river, northern part of the Muránska planina NP), where was not known so far. The record interconnects two parts of the known distribution range of A. agrarius in Slovakia (Northern and South-eastern Slovakia). The finding is also evidence of spreading of the species across mountain ridges, which have not been expected previously.
