Revival The article focuses on the cooperation between the major personalities involved in the Slovak National Revival in the first half of the 19th century: the scientist P. J. Šafárik, the poet J. Kollár and M. Hamuljak, who was a follower of A. Bernolak’s linguistic tradition. The author describes the interactions between the two followers of the concept of one nation consisting of both Czech and Slovak ethnic groups and the supporter of the Slovak National Movement, aimed at separate Czech and Slovak ethnic groups living together but independently – for instance in a confederation. Their contacts reflected the basic concepts of language and nation, and this cooperation resulted in numerous publications. The article emphasises the remarkable efforts of M. Hamuljak in publishing and distributing works written by P. J. Šafárik. Their collaboration is rare evidence of the creative interpersonal relationships between prominent representatives of the Slovak National Revival period, despite differences in their opinions regarding language and the general concept of a national movement.
