In February 2015 the National Museum officially launched its volunteer program. The support and the involvement of the museum employees allowed many volunteer positions to be created through the whole museum. The volunteers are mostly involved in working with the museum collections and participating in the activities prepared by the museum for the public. The project has now (October 2015) been active for nine months. So far almost 130 volunteers have taken part in the volunteer program and together have dedicated approximately 4 300 working hours to the National Museum. The project offers many potential benefits for the participants, museum employees and the museum itself. Last but not least, the volunteer project has become a great way of making the National Museum more accessible to the public.
