The following middle and upper Pleistocene lemmings were excavated in the Baikal region: Dicrostonyx cf. simplicior, D. cf. henseli, D. cf. guilielmi, Lemmus sibiricus, L. amurensis and Myopus schisticolor. Recent fauna includes two species living east of Lake Baikal: L. amurensis and M. schisticolor, and a single species occurring west of Lake Baikal: M. schisticolor.
