The project “The Cultural Heritage of the Monasteries Dissolved in the Former Polish Commonwealth and in Silesia during the 18th and 19th Centuries: The Fate, Importance, Inventory” (www.kasaty.pl), which has been worked on in the Early Printed Books Department of the University of Warsaw Library since September 2012, aims to describe and make accessible the remnants of approx. 120 identified Polish monastic libraries (ca 10,000 volumes) in the collections of the University of Warsaw Library. The first part of the project includes a description of approx. 100 libraries limited to those represented in the collection of the University Library by at least three volumes. The results of the work will be accessible in the online database Libraries of Dissolved Monasteries: History, Ownership Marks, Sources. The records will consist of the history of a monastic library, variant forms of its name used in the provenance notes and marks, digital images of the pertinent provenance notes and marks and information on pertinent catalogues, lists of books, inventories etc.
