The paper discusses the development of media legislation in Czechoslovakia between 1945–1948. It focuses in particular on the role of the Union of Czech Journalists in the preparation of legislative standards and approval. It shows that the UCJ in this case from beginning fully support the proposals of the Ministry of Information, although the proccess of adoption of the new media law in the National Front was very difficult.
