Václav Frič (1839–1916) came from a large extended Prague family, which included many other important personalities active in various fields of human endeavor. In 1861, Václav Frič founded a store with natural products and teaching aids, which was initially located in Vodičková street in Prague, and from 1877 in Vladislavova street. The company supplied zoological specimens, minerals, rocks and aids for naturalists to schools, collectors, museums and universities, mainly in Europe, but also throughout the world. The range of products was extensive, the company prospered well for a long time and became world famous. Its exhibits have received awards several times at world exhibitions. After the death of Václav Frič, his son Jaromír Frič took over the company. In 1959, he terminated its activities, and the natural products stored in the company building were taken over by the National Museum in Prague. In the mineralogical collection of the National Museum there are almost 2,800 items of minerals originating from the company V. Frič.
