A serpentinite quarry at Bernartice near Dolní Kralovice is further locality where relatively rare Mg-carbonate huntite was identified. The mineral was found in a vein striking 35 - 45o and dipping 70o to the west that is 10 - 25 cm thick and penetrates the altered serpentinite. The vein is filled with whitish dolomite accompanied locally with accumulations of huntite. The mineral forms chalky white, soft, crumbly and powdery but also solid vein fillings with relics of gray-white dolomite from which it originated via its alteration. Huntite was identified by X-ray powder diffraction and its chemical composition corresponds to the formula Ca1.011Mg2.989(CO3)4. Its discovery represents its fourth occurrence in the Czech Republic.
