The paper summarizes the first results of a field campaign for collecting microvertebrate fossils from the “terrestric Sarmatian” of Northern Hungary. A majority of the identified taxa is known from the Middle Miocene of Bavaria, Switzerland and Bohemia. The fauna under study refer to the MN6 and MN7–8 zones.
