For more than twelve years, the Bibliothčque municipale de Lyon has been striving to create a Provenance database linking its collections to their former owners, Throughout Europe and now through the streets of the city of Lyon itself with walking tours evoking the history of ancient libraries, this contextual information builds a web of connections. With the help of local, national, and international collaborations, the library is presently working on a program of reconstruction of dispersed libraries in order to contribute to both scholarly research on the history of collections and a better sharing with the general public of this common heritage.
