Estates of Czech and Moravian publishers are of fundamental importance for the study of the development of book culture in the Czech Republic during the last two centuries. They contain their private libraries, publisher ́s archives, as well as many other literary, artistic and material documents deposited in archives, museums and libraries. Among those, the most significant are the Library of the National Museum (KNM) and the Museum of Czech Literature (PNP). The purpose of the present paper is to call attention to the number and size of such estates (archives, libraries, pieces of art) in KNM and PNP. They offer the opportunity to study a major part of publishing activities in our country during the 19th and 20th centuries.
