The article Czechoslovak Press Agency as Part of the Constitution of State Sovereignity describes the historical relationship between the state/govenment and the state news agency Československá tisková kancelář/Czechoslovak News Agency (CTK, founded 1918).
This tradition originated in the 19th century (Telegraphen-Korrespondenz-Bureau (Korbyro, founded 1859/60) and as such precedes the era of state socialism. The text explains the role of news agency CTK in the First Republic (1918- 1938) as the key institution of the media system.
