The article deals with the latest trends in European, mainly in Czech theater architecture. In recent years, the permanent theatre buildings were built very rarely in Europe. By contrast, there are now so-called "pop-up theaters", reviving neglected places and spaces, and using recycled building materials. On the rise are also mobile theatres that can be easily transferred. The motivations for the development of these projects are numerous: respect for the environment, financial modesty, changes in operating and production models of contemporary theatre practice, effort for marketing visibility, etc. Concrete examples are presented in the following text to illustrate mentioned trends. The artical places them in a broader historical context and looks for causes of their extraordinary popularity in the present.
