Music recordings of foreign provenance were available on the Czechoslovak market from 1948 to 1989 exclusively in the form of licensed titles issued by the state-owned enterprises Supraphon and, later, Opus. Previous attempts to summarise the licensing policy of both entities have been limited to Western popular music. The present study seeks to provide a complete inventory of licensed titles released in Czechoslovakia between 1965 and 1975, and to interpret it under the lens of genre distribution.
