Jabkenice Lodge, near a large game park in beautiful natural surroundings, was originally the seat of the forestry office of the Counts Thurn-Taxis. From 1875, Betřich Smetana’s son-in-law, Josef Schwarz, husband of his daughter Žofie lived there. The deaf Smetana spent the last years of his life here (1875–1884), when he composed some of his most significant works.

Tuesday–Sunday: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Tours start every hour at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased only at the box office.

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, admission to the Bedřich Smetana Memorial is free.

The building is located on a place that is difficult to get to for visitors with special needs. There are also stairs in the building. The building has toilets for visitors with mobility difficulties.

At the cash desk of the memorial, you can purchase multilingual publications about Smetana and the Prague of his time, a guide to the exhibition of the Bedřich Smetana Memorial in Jabkenice, souvenirs, tourist cards, stamps, stickers, photo stickers, magnets, etc. Cashless payment is possible at the memorial. A coffee machine is available to visitors.
