A Set of Wallenstein Miniature Orders

A bar of four miniature orders and decorations presents a valuable new addition to the phaleristic collection of the Numismatic Department of the National Museum. The bar includes a rare decoration – the Czech Noble Cross which was awarded in 1814 to only 38 men – members of the personal guard of the Emperor Franz I of Austria. Historical value of this item is enhanced by the probable identification of its recipient – the Count Christian Vincenz of Wallenstein-Wartenberg (1794–1858). The article also examines the portraits of Christian Wallenstein and his father Ernst wearing their orders and decorations.
