The Collection of Celtic Coins in the East Bohemia Museum in Pardubice

Most of the coins in the Celtic collection of the East Bohemia Museum in Pardubice come from the Bedřich Skrbek Collection which was acquired in 1908. From the 1940s to 1960s, some items were stolen by Václav Vágner, the then keeper of the Collection, and remain missing today. Currently, the Celtic part of the Collection consists of 11 pieces including four modern forgeries which were deliberately incorporated into the assemblage by Václav Vágner. A noteworthy specimen is a 1/24-stater bearing the images of a human head and a horse, which was probably struck in Bohemia.
