The seal is a reference to one power era of the Middle Ages. With the shift in research, we can encounter new insights that everything could have represented in its time. The overall development is linked to the availability of sphragistic material for researchers as well as within digital archives. The paper will describe the aspects of 2D and 3D digitalization of seals on a concrete example of the seals of the Czech Crown Archive and outline the possibilities of making the results of digitalisation available. As the development of modern technologies progresses, it is impossible to stand aside from them. Institutions that see the opportunities offered by technology will not only enable the contribution of scientific progress, as data will be available to researchers around the world, but will also enable, for example, to preserve the seal from the imaginary degradation that could go through with frequent exposure to inappropriate conditions. Finally, modern technologies can also serve to popularize science among the younger generation and thus attract the attention of the future young scientific community.
