In 2007, within the study of small mammals in plantings of forest trees in floodplain forests of southern Moravia, a rather considerable number of individuals of the bicolored shrew (Crocidura leucodon) was caught. The population made up a dominant or even eudominant component within the local community of small mammals. Considering the regularly low subrecedent occurrence of the species in small mammal communities, it is an unusual phenomenon. Thus, its occurrence in forest tree plantings extends information on the spectrum of habitats colonized by this species.
