This CR Ministry of Culture’s NAKI project, ‘Daguerre’s drawing with light…’ is being undertaken from 2012 to 2015 at FAMU’s Department of Photography as one of the most important projects of the newly created field of study, Photograph restoration, which has been implemented since 2012. The project itself was completed in the first year of the solution, when amongst other things the already achieved objectives were summarised and tested. Based on that, experiments can be developed in order to determine mechanisms of degradation for Daguerreotype photos etc. Assuming a successful project conclusion the following should be achieved (and especially the results checked): creation of an effective and technically correct tool for conservation and restoration work in the care for Daguerreotypes as one of the most important photography techniques in history. A technique which is also most endangered through its physical properties. The results achieved will also continue to be used in the future to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching Photograph restoration, including in the fields of care for very fragile and endangered photographic materials, and also for teaching practical restoration and conservation techniques, including a survey of the physical conditions of photographic materials etc.
