An unique selenide mineral association in calcite gangue was found at the abandoned uranium deposit Zálesí, Rychlebské hory Mountains, Czech Republic. Main selenide phase in the association is umangite, which forms abundant irregular grains up to 1 - 2 mm in size with purple color and metallic lustre. Umangite is tetragonal, space group P-421m, the unit-cell parameters refined from powder X-ray data are: a 6.4009(5), c 4.2556(6) Å, and V = 176.36(4) Å3. Chemical analyses of umangite yielded the average composition Ag 0.01, Cu 55.99, Se 43.94, S 0.80, total 100.74 wt. % corresponding to the empirical formula Cu3.01(Se1.90S0.08)Σ1.98 on the basis 5 apfu. Other selenides - athabascaite, berzelianite, clausthalite, klockmannite and watkinsonite - formed microscopic grains in association with umangite. Chemical composition for all mentioned mineral phases is given. The studied Cu-selenide association is interpreted as product of a young regeneration process, originated in conditions of low temperatures (below 112 oC) and probable presence of fluids of mainly meteoric origin.
