The Náprstek Museum in Prague administers a collection of graphics consisting of 3344 images released during 1890 and 1905. 2515 of these pictures were published by the Liebig Company. The collection of advertising pictures was presumably acquired in 1967 by the former library curator Dr. Lifka. It remained a brief notice in the library register, which indicates, that the collection was offered for sale by a certain Mrs. Marie Pleskotová and that the library commission welcomed this offer. The entry however doesn’t provide further details with regard to the background or circumstances of Mrs. Pleskotová‘s ownership. The contribution on hand deals with the history and advertisement of Liebig’s Meat Extract in a rather concise way. It focuses on the collection of advertising pictures in the Náprstek Museum, inter alia on the recipes, which were located on the obverse of the pictures. The recipes were utilised by the Company for the successful promotion of Liebig`s Meat Extract.
