This case study deals with the anthropological analysis of two individuals found in a common grave in the locality of Košice – Krásna, eastern Slovakia, particularly because of the unconventional burial, which is unusual for the Bronze Age burial rite. The results of the analyses indicate that the grave contained an adult individual, identified as a woman aged 30–35 years, with her face turned to the east (oriented south-north) and her arms positioned above her head in a posture suggesting restraint. The skeletal remains of the second individual were identified as those of a child, estimated to be around eight years of age (infans III), lying in an atypical prone position, with the lower part of the body underneath the adult individual and facing west. No signs of antemortem traumatic injury or evidence of anthropophagy were observed on the skeletal material of either individual. Their deaths and burials have become the subject of debate, raising questions about Bronze Age burial rituals, possible violent or ritual death, their state of health and their social status within the community.
