The article deals with the topic of murder in the broadside ballads published in the Czech lands in the 19th century, with closer attention to two stories from the areas of Mikulov and Teplice. The authors have focused on a comparison of individual prints in terms of language and typographical nuances, including differences in pictorial material. Their work is a continuation of recent extensive research on the issue of the broadside-ballad collection at the Moravian Library in Brno, focusing on four printing centres (Litomyšl, Chrudim, Olomouc and Jihlava), as this provides comparative material on some sub-issues in the present study. The production of these publishing houses was the starting point for the selection of themes and the targeting of two specific songs published repeatedly. For the analysis of these particular songs, however, the production of other presses is also taken into account.
