This paper draws attention to three archival collections of the public prosecutor’s offices deposited in the State Regional Archives in Třeboň that contain the agenda of press control and censorship interventions. Selected newspapers from the turn of the 20th century document how censors monitored press production and the reflection of social situation, how and on the basis of what legislation censors analysed texts, how they changed or completely confiscated the texts, whether the circulation was partially or completely destroyed, and which institutions were involved in the process. As these archival collections preserve both the original and final forms of newspapers, they represent an important platform for the study of the history of journalism.
