Notopeza, a new genus of Platypezidae (Diptera) from Chile

A new genus Notopeza gen. nov. is proposed for Platypeza brunnescens Collin, 1931. This species was originally described from a single female. The male is newly described and diagnostic features are illustrated. The new genus is diagnosed and its relationships are discussed.
