The first extensive text part contains Tomášek's biography, summarizes the current state of research on Tomášek, and provides an overview of existing sources. Previous attempts to compile Tomášek's work are summarized and two of Tomášek's own catalogs of compositions are compared. The extensive text is devoted to the characteristics of the existing sheet music material and the sheet music estate of Václav Jan Tomášek, which is stored in the National Museum in Prague. The second part contains a catalog of Tomášek's work, which is arranged systematically. It also includes lists by opus number, alphabetical and chronological, an index of vocal compositions by title and text incipits, a list of authors of texts, a list of publishers, dedicators, a list of literature and electronic sources. A list of institutions where the sources are stored is also provided. The catalogue includes musical incipits, quotes from two of Tomášek's own catalogues of compositions, quotes from his autobiography that relate to the compositions, and other information from contemporary sources and bibliography. Information on the composition's origin and other contexts is provided. In order to compile the catalogue, an extensive search was carried out in many European institutions (the occurrence of autographs, copies and prints is monitored), and even new, previously unknown compositions were discovered.

The text part of the catalogue is in Czech and English; in the catalogue part, only the information that is necessary for understanding is translated into English.

The e-book can be purchased in the online store Palmknihy.
