The life and work of Vojta Náprastek – founder of the Náprstek Museum, Prague patron, promoter of women’s education and progress in general – are presented in this small permanent exhibition.
The exhibition is devoted to: his family; his studies and the 1848 revolutions; his emigration to and life in America; the founding of a library after returning from the U.S.A.; the founding and activities of the American Ladies' Club; the founding of the Museum of Industry; his contacts with Czech and expatriate society; his relationships with travellers; and the subsequent development of the museum.
Texts are accompanied by period illustrations, photographs and copies of archive material.
