This article was written on the occasion of the two hundredth anniversary of Carl Maria von Weber’s assumption of the post of chief conductor and head of opera for theEstates Theatre in Prague. He served in that position from 1813 to 1815, during which time he greatly improved the quality of opera performances in Prague. The article discusses manuscripts preserved in the Czech Museum of Music: Weber’s autograph letters, a manuscript copy of his cantata Kampf und Sieg with his own annotations, documents pertaining to his wedding with Carolina Brandt, and his Notizen-Buch in which he entered musical stage works presented in Prague during the time of his work for the theatre there. The article includes a table of works based on this last source.
