According to available data, Przewalski horses did not occur in the areas north of the Mongolian Altai in the historical era. The transfer of Przewalskii horses to Khomiin Tal in south-western Mongolia in 2011 could be considered as an introduction or, in a broader sense, as a re-patriation of these horses. In future, these horses could enlarge the genetic basis of the species living in the Gobi desert (Takhin Tal).
