We captured three individuals of two small mammal species showing complete melanism in a riparian stand of Phragmiti-Magnocaricetea (the range from Phragmition to Magnocaricatalia biotopes) in the Podunajská nížina Lowland – two individuals of the bicoloured white-toothed shrew (Crocidura leucodon) at Čerhát near Komárno on 27 and 28 October 2002, and one individual of the common vole (Microtus arvalis) at Hanské pasienky, Orechová Potôň, on 21 September 2005.
