The paper deals with the origin of the mouflons (Ovis musimon) kept in Czech deer-parks, with the factors of their introduction, the discrepancy between the expressions “wild sheep” and “mouflon” and with the linguistic origin of the word “mouflon”. The version that moufl on came to Bohemia from a breed near Vienna in the first half of the 18th century, is concerned to be the most probable.
