Comparisons between wayang kulit Kelantan and graffiti art in Greater Kuala Lumpur show relations in the used apprenticeship system educating newcomers, in the strong inner motivations for newcomers to pursue these activities, in the process of creating the puppets/graffiti art works, in the usage of additional stage props/design elements to enlarge the expressivity, in the official authorities’ imposed control and in the adjustment of these two activities to the local culture and norms. Differences between wayang kulit Kelantan and graffiti art in Greater Kuala Lumpur are seen in the legal outsets, in the respective decline and rise of these activities, in the usage/non-usage of music and in the underlying spiritual sub-contexts.
