Based on many years of studying the incunabula in Slovakia, it has been theorized that there was an itinerary book printer in Bratislava in the years 1477–1480. He was credited with several smaller prinings. That hypothesis has been confirmed thanks to the discovery of a document in the Bratislava City Archives, granting the burgher's right to some "painter and printer Andreas" in the year 1477. The author analyzes his prints that pertain to Bratislava and Hungary. She speculates that he may have been the Andreas Hess from Buda. Although several questions still demand an answer, it may be said for sure that the beginnings of book printing in Slovakia have been brought back into the period of the incunabula.
