The international exchange of publications has a long tradition in the National Museum. It is both an important source of foreign scientific literature and also a very useful way of distribution of publications published by the National Museum – a presentation of its scientific results. The paper describes the history and changes in this area during the period 1990-2010 in the Czech Republic and in the National Museum Library. The comparison of results of purchase and exchange. Contemporary goals of international exchange of publications in the National Museum Library.
