A new species of the Neotropical genus Balbagathis Quate, 1996 is described and illustrated. Balbagathis janjezeki Ibáñez-Bernal sp. nov. is the 12th species described in this genus, and the second recorded in Mexico. Some new faunistic records of Balbagathis sylvatica Quate, 1996 in the state of Veracruz are also added.
