The study examines Czechoslovak pop from the 1960s to the 1980s on the basis of representative hit production. It looks at the characteristic features of the genre in its various historical phases and decades, paying more attention to pop of the crucial period of the advent of the so-called normalization period. The new findings are confronted with the established stereotypes of how the topic is viewed in the post-1989 era.
