This publication deals about the popular paintings on glass - one of the most peculiar and wonderful forms of popular art in the Czech Lands.
The popular glass painting belongs to popular art techniques, that were taken from upper classes. The first popular glass paintings in the Czech Lands could be dated to the middle of the 18th century. During next two centuries brightly colored and expressive pictures became very popular in households of our ancestors. In this book the reader will also find information about the collection of popular glass paintings in the National Museum. There are around 2 000 pieces, it is one of the most important collections in Europe.
