The diaries of Ludevít and Marta Procházková form an important contribution to knowledge of musical life in Prague, Hamburg, and Dresden in the 1860s, 1870s, and 1880s. Ludevít Procházka was a pianist, composer, conductor, music critic, editor, and organizer. His wife, a singer, performed in operas by Mozart, Meyerbeer, Wagner, Donizetti, Goldmark, Rubinstein, Weber, and others. The critical edition of diary entries are supplemented with excerpts from the period press, reporting especially on Marta Procházková's career as a singer. The edition contains a critical report with an evaluation of the sources and a brief description of the editorial principles.
